I was brought up without anyone ever mentioning God to me, but through a friend I heard about the Alpha course and was very excited to find out more. I had started coming to Riverside about once a month, but was definitely not a Christian. Through coming on the Alpha Course I discovered a lot about Christianity and why Jesus died for me. I also learnt how to use the Bible and put it to use in my life. The course helped me to see what life was all about and how to live it. I met some very special friends, and on one session I asked people to pray for me. As people prayed I felt the prayers so much that it had to be real and I began to believe what I had been learning, having been in two minds up until that point. I think this is when I was changed and now I consider myself a Christian wanting to live life God's way. If I was to pick one thing out of the course that I enjoyed the most it would be the discussion times after the talks. There were about six in our group and we really got to know one another as we talked through issues and answered one anothers' questions.
