“Moseley 2” Community Group

About 18 months ago our group conducted an audit of gifts among its members because we wanted to identify how we could best use our gifts to stretch out and share God’s love with people around us. We decided that we could offer a regular commitment to a local residential home. So we approached the Green Home in Kings Norton where we knew two residents. Since Dec 2008 we have been going for a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon four times a year. We use a normal community group meeting beforehand to plan jointly our worship so that the whole group retains ownership. This very simple outreach has blessed us also because there is a joint commitment from members. We turn up at the Green Home at about 3pm and with the support of a keyboard player from Riverside, sing songs, read a bible story and offer some prayers. The rest of the visit we talk to and, if they wish, pray with residents and also staff who particularly seem to appreciate the time of worship – we are made very welcome. It’s a good time for us all.
