Café Church

We’ve been running Café Church at Riverside for 3 years now. We started meeting every Sunday evening at Riverside House and then moved it to The Cross Café Bar and met once a month. We’ve had all kinds of evenings ranging from Murder Mystery to Open Mic nights and U2 to Beer & Carols nights.

From the start we’ve always wanted it to be a place for people to come and connect with the church who probably wouldn’t initially come to a Sunday morning service. As a team we recently met to reflect on the past 3 years and look at what we could do in the future. Café Church has been an entry point into the church for a few people. It has also been a place for people to use their creative gifts. As a team we feel we’ve run quite a lot of evangelistic, entertaining events but we’ve struggled to develop community.

We’ve decided to stop running Café Church this term and spend some time thinking and praying about what a fresh expression of church in our community could look like. So watch this space!
