Made in His Image

Image_2 Image_3 Image_4 Image_1When we started Image ministry I wasn’t sure what I was doing, I only knew God had given me a vision for a ministry to help families with children with special needs to fully engage in the life of the church and I knew He would provide.

And God did provide and He continues to provide. 2013 has been a year of growth for Image. We continue to support families to attend church together by helping children of all abilities engage in their peer groups and church activities as well as a special Sunday morning group. Our Saturday Club “Stay-and-Play” has seen amazing growth and is engaging with 16 families and 32 children from across Birmingham. 2013 has also been a year of blessings.

Our Sunday morning helpers bless children by making the Bible and the truth of God’s love accessible through creative, sensory-based story telling. Through our Saturday Club, families have been blessed with performances from entertainers from Riverside and from the community as well as opportunities to form friendships and hopefully experience God’s love through the care and support of our volunteers.

Families aren’t the only people blessed by our ministry. We hear again and again from volunteers how this ministry has impacted them. Many people volunteered having no previous experience with special needs and disabilities but a desire to bless, and soon realised that their lives had been blessed through building relationships with the children and their families. We have also been encouraged by a successful bid for a £500 grant to help fund resources and specialist equipment.

2013 has also been a year of reflection. We have been looking at where we started, where we are now and where God is leading us. We are excited to see what God has ahead for us.
