Trumpet Call to Pray for the Nation

1Trumpet Call to Pray for the Nation,100 gathered in Birmingham on 15th June, from Birmingham (well done  Riversiders!), West Midlands, Great Britain and beyond. The theme for the day was Jeremiah 1:10 “See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
The day was spent in prayer, interspersed with challenges, reports and inspiring stories.
Malcolm Duncan, Pastor of Gold Hill Baptist Church encouraged us to ‘stand up, speak out and proclaim the truth of who Christ is’ with ‘humility, confidence, boldness: speaking the truth in love graciously, gently, clearly yet strongly’.
He reminded us of the dangers of shaping God’s word to suit us or the society around and the need for our lives, communities and nation to be shaped afresh by God’s word.
There was a clear thread through the day of the need to pray for young people. Eighty percent of people become Christians under the age of 18.
