Overseas mission

The aROMa (‘Riverside Overseas Mission’) team looks after the overseas mission side of the church. The team is made up of members of Riverside who have a broad experience of overseas mission and a passion for it. The aROMa team meets every few months to manage and facilitate three aspects of Riverside’s world mission:

  • care and support of overseas missionaries
  • participation in short term missions
  • support of specific aid and relief projects

We currently support Riverside long-term mission partners in Cambodia, Zambia, Rwanda, the Middle East, Romania, Europe and Eurasia. We have also supported short term mission teams and individuals to Egypt, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Brazil. In addition we have supported aid & relief projects in partnership with World Vision in Armenia, Tear Fund in Bangladesh, Medair in Somalia, Green Pastures in Kazakhstan, a project in Guatemala and International Justice Mission worldwide.

Our aim is to continually raise the profile of overseas mission and encourage all at Riverside to be ‘world Christians’ with a heart for other nations and cultures. We want to encourage as many as possible to consider going out on a short term mission team at some point – the opportunities are limitless and the rewards are huge. The aROMa team is happy to help Riversiders find the overseas mission opportunity that suits you best. Or you may want to get involved with a prayer group supporting one of our long-term mission partners.
