A Vision to Perform

Last Autumn the Riverside Performing Arts student team hit the road to tour The Three Billy Goats’ A Vision to PerformStuff; a dynamic story-theatre production addressing the issue of bullying. Over the course of two weeks the students performed to over 4000 nursery and primary school children in the Birmingham area and also an old people’s residence, concluding with 3 public performances at The Hub. For many this was the first time they had encountered the work of Riverside.  We saw children return who’d seen the production at their school and been so excited they wanted to share it with their families and we had the opportunity to share about God’s love for them. Visiting schools with the show was a real eye-opener, as we saw just how much the children enjoyed the performances and workshops – over the course of 45 minutes the school hall seemed to transform into a choir as the audience joined in with the songs and dances, and watched, captivated by the ensemble of “animals” telling the story. A Vision to PerformsThrough the morals encompassed in the tale, and the interactive post-show talk, we were able to communicate God’s word to children who may never have heard of Him before; and from the feedback given we are so grateful that we had the opportunity to do this!
