Baptisms ahead – Sunday April 10th 1pm

Lydia Townley shares her experience of baptism: “I got baptised because I wanted to make a public declaration that I was a Christian and also to deepen my faith. In preparation for the day my father, who was also the pastor of the church, went through with me what baptism was about. I was very excited about it, though nervous as well. I spent the week before writing down what I was going to say on the day. As I look back on my baptism now I see how it strengthened my faith and brought me closer to God. To anyone considering baptism I would say ‘do it – what’s stopping you?’ It’s a great experience and only good can come from it.

In Acts 8:37 the Ethiopian man said, ‘Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptised?’

Every term we have a baptism service at Riverside House in the garden. We take baptism seriously because the Bible (and Jesus himself) clearly indicates that water baptism is an important and significant part of following Jesus. In preparation, someone from the pastoral team will meet with each person beforehand to go through what baptism is about. We encourage each one to invite friends and family along as it is such a special occasion. The baptisms are always so genuine and heartfelt – particularly the testimonies telling of God’s love and grace in their lives. After the baptism service we enjoy a bring-and-share meal together.

If you are yet to be baptised, call me – as this may be your opportunity!
