Hope 2011 July 20th – July 22nd

Hope 2011 was a three day project with the aim of ‘Bridging Cultures’ particularly in the Balsall Heath area with people from different faiths. After a teaching session in the morning we were involved with activities including playing football with a youth group, visiting the Birmingham Central Mosque, and supporting existing outreach groups set up by different churches and community organisations. We also helped with two Social Action clean-up projects, one of which involved clearing an alleyway that had been highlighted as a health risk by the community during the week.

The team of 13 represented 5 different churches and amongst the outreach activities, we had time to share experiences, enjoy food together and reflect on what God was showing us through the project. It was an amazing three days and really reminded us all of the need for sensitive cross cultural mission to take place, especially in a city like Birmingham with so many different cultures literally on our doorstep.

So, thank you for your prayers and support of the project; I do hope next time you might consider being involved!
