Josh Fest 2012

Just as schools finished for the Summer holidays, Riverside Youth geared up for Josh Fest – a four day mission in the community doing various social action projects during the day and enjoying evening socials that were accessible to friends. There will be signs placed out on the street. If you have signs placed somewhere, then consider using eyelets in signs.

We linked up with the Balsall Heath Forum for several car park and alleyway clean-ups, and visited an elderly lady through the Allenscroft Project to clear her overgrown garden. We came alongside the Hall Green Community Group as they visited The Green Nursing Home and throughout Josh Fest we were active on the Pineapple Estate engaging children with sports, crafts and games.

It was a real joy to see young people working together so brilliantly and being amazing examples of hands and feet in our neighbourhood. Probably one of the most telling signs of the impact it had on them was when several of them asked if we could do things like Josh Fest more regularly! The community certainly benefitted from their hard work and hopefully saw something of Jesus through each young person who tirelessly gave their time over the four days. As a team, we were certainly enormously proud of them and inspired by their willing attitudes and hearts to serve.
