Mission – “To Uganda and Beyond!”

The Riverside Overseas Mission (aROMa) team has the great privilege of managing a sizeable budget earmarked for ‘overseas mission’ – the result of Riversiders’ generous giving through tithes and offerings. The aROMa annual budget is divided three ways:

74% towards support of our long-term mission partners (11 Riversiders serving in 6 countries and 2 regions)

13% towards aid & relief projects (in 4 countries and 1 region)

12% towards support of Riversiders going on short-term mission teams (to 8 countries in 2011)

1% towards ‘other’ (Christmas gifts, support of missionaries on home leave, etc.)

In the 2011 budget we were able to give generously to the following Christian organisations involved with aid & relief projects:

World Vision – Stepanavan Armenia community development project

Tear Fund – Bangladesh flood defence project

Medair – Somalia Food Crisis Appeal

Green Pastures – work in Kazahkstan with disabled children and families

International Justice Mission – human rights work on behalf of victims of slavery and exploitation

For 2011-12 we are looking to partner with the Riverside ‘Elijah’ team in supporting an aid & relief project with an ‘ethical’ emphasis. We would like to involve the church in a consultation process to determine which organisation/project to support.

If you have ideas or information to put into the mix please contact Harry Hewat, Jon & Jill Lloyd or Satpal Boyes. Towards the end of the year we will invite the church to an open consultation. We do appreciate your involvement and generosity in supporting the work of overseas mission at Riverside, expressing something of God’s heart for all people groups and nations.
