Nativity Journey

On one of the coldest days of 2010 Riverside House was transformed into different settings for scenes of the Nativity Journey. During the afternoon, children and their parents visited the Angels in Heaven, the Wise Men in their Travel Lodge, Mary and Joseph on the last stage of their journey, the Shepherds getting ready to go and see Jesus, and the Innkeeper. Then they returned to the hall and were joined onstage by the complete company of characters to worship Jesus, the new-born Saviour.

Around 50 people aged 0- 80, including families from Stay and Play and Pineapple Estate, came to the event in spite of sub-zero temperatures, deep snow and treacherous roads. One dad commented: ‘As a punter, I have to say it was simply brilliant. I loved it every bit as much as my son did.’

Raw Nerve plus other actors from the church did a fantastic job of helping us understand the characters, and a faithful group of volunteers helped by decorating the scenes, being tour guides,  preparing snacks, and accompanying us in singing. Everyone worked very hard and coped well with lots of last minute changes! There was a great atmosphere and it was an exciting way to understand the significance of Jesus’ birth.
