Riverside School of Performing Arts UPDATE

The start of the autumn term has brought with it much excitement to the RSPA/ Raw Nerve office including us winning first place (£600!) in the promotion of Fair-trade clothing at the National Fair-trade awards for our production of ‘Cheap and Cheerful’. Alongside that we have also said a huge welcome back to our new second years Vicki Stanley, Becky Garside and Esther Wilkes. They will be spending the next year working as Raw Nerve interns; heading up Community Arts projects across schools and youth groups in Birmingham. Already planned into their diary are performances and workshops at Swanshurst School, Grace Academy and Victoria School and there is so much more to come.

The interns will also be supporting the work of our new first year team who arrived in early October as well as doing some exciting collaborative projects. The RSPA year is an amazing opportunity of using drama to creatively share the Christian faith to many. Last year alone we worked with roughly 30,000 people seeing God doing incredible things both in and through our organisation. Among the highlights were young people in a number of lessons looking at sex and relationships asking us how they could become Christians and change their lives. We are excited and expectant to see so many more of these stories in this coming year.

RSPA exists only because of the wider support of so many within our church who support our ministry so faithfully and as ever we want to say a massive thank you. If you are interested in becoming part of our support team then one of our biggest areas of current need is new financial supporters (all RSPA staff and interns raise their own financial support) to give monthly or one off gifts to our work.
