Stay and Play, Riverside House

“What shall we do with these happy children?” …That’s what we sing each week to start our singing time. It’s got one of those annoying tunes that stays in your head all week! However it’s quite a good statement of what we aim for; happy children and happy mums, dads, grandparents and child-minders.

Research (www.1277.org.uk) says that 52% of the UK’s under 5’s attend a church-based toddler group. We’re glad to be part of this. Each Wednesday we have about 30 adults and 35 children at Riverside house; tiny babies, inquisitive toddlers, energetic 2 & 3 year olds and a few very grown up 4 year olds. Caring for little children can be tiring and lonely as well as exciting and good fun, so we aim to provide a stimulating, safe play environment where carers can make friends and get the support they sometimes need.

We are very grateful to volunteers from Riverside who help with refreshments! However we could do with one or two more on the rota.

Prayer points: that families will respond to our recent leafleting around Riverside House, and that we can be good witnesses to God’s love in all we do at Stay and Play.
