Word of Hands turns three!

We currently run Word of Hands services at Riverside House on the 1st Sunday of every month (apart from Jan, May and August), and are very proud to share that we will be celebrating our 3rd year anniversary on Sunday 3rd June! You are very welcome to come and celebrate with the Deaf community at Riverside, as we will provide a voiceover during the service. Please then bring your own lunch to eat in the garden afterward! (11am-12.30pm service / 12.30pm-3pm lunch).

In other news, we’re setting up a new Sunday School for the children starting in September 2012 and have 5 volunteers with experience of working with the children. Matthew 19:14 teaches us:But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” We feel that it’s really important to involve the children in their own age groups to develop their understanding of Biblical teaching and their personal relationship with Jesus, as they are our ‘next generation’. We also have a good number of babies on the way and we’re very grateful to have more helpers as part of the team.

In March we held a “Green party” to raise funds for the European Deaf Christian Conference we’re hosting for deaf Christians across Europe. We raised £2,600, with 120 people attending. The event will take place 9th-16th August 2013 at Smallwood Manor and we’re hoping for up to 150 people coming from all over Europe. In total we need to raise about £10,000 to make this happen.

As we look to the future, we’re trusting the Lord for His direction as we think about increasing the number of services, meaning we can reach out to more people through our Word of Hands services.
