Since September 2004, Deaf people have been involved with Riverside Church and have experienced a positive attitude and great welcome. Each week since 2004, Riverside has provided a qualified Sign Language Interpreter at one of their Sunday morning services and has always been keen to make sure that Deaf people can access all parts of the service. In January 2006 the Home Group for Deaf people and BSL Users was set up and we have run two successful BSL Alpha Courses in 2007 and 2008 and 2009. Two Deaf people became Christians this year through the Alpha Course. 1 Corinthians 12:12 “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one body.” This is what we see in Riverside: Deaf and Hearing people have differences, but we work together as one community, serving Jesus in one spirit.

This is a charity party hosted by the Riverside deaf community from which we are aiming to raise a target of £5,000 towards DMI (Deaf Ministries International) and EDCY (European Deaf Christian Youth). Last year in March 2011, we had The Purple Party which we raise £1,500. We are increasing the target because we will NEED your support…how? You can do your own sponsorship / fund raising and contribute to this party. We have already got people doing a 950 miles bike trip from Lands-End to the top of Scotland, visiting 20 x Premiership Football Stadiums within 24 hours, and Half-Marathons.
