Operation Christmas Child Shoebox appeal

For the last couple of years I have tried to involve the primary school where I work in the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox appeal. This year together with a colleague, we were able to do an assembly where I made a wall of empty shoeboxes for the children to see and then showed all the children at The Oval Primary School the promotional DVD about the appeal.

The children (who are in one of the thousand most deprived wards in the UK) really got behind this appeal, some even using their own pocket money to complete boxes. By the deadline, we had some 38 boxes and 3 bags of second hand toys! I was really touched by the effort of the children and staff. We are hoping Samaritans Purse will come and do a follow up assembly for all the children to see where the boxes have gone.
