“REAL RIVERSIDE Football Club” 2012-2013 SEASON REVIEW

REAL RIVERSIDE Football Club 2012-2013 SEASONReal Riverside’s 10th season began with both sides challenging their respective division league titles. The A team looked the more likely league winners up until the last few weeks of the season and a great run in the Cup games saw the team make it to the semi-final stage but just miss out on a second Cup final appearance in consecutive seasons.  The B team finished with their highest ever league position.

We also saw the introduction of young Ben Rattley from within the church, who broke into the A team in his first ever season to play a significant role and ending up being named Manager’s “Player of the Season”.

Off the pitch, Real acquired a new kit sponsor in Rileys Club of Moseley, who hosted the annual Real Riverside AGM and Awards night as well as sponsorship for a new away kit.

There have been more fans from within and outside the church come to the games and say how much they enjoyed the camaraderie with the players and the positive influence they feel is taking place within the team.

Some Christians in the team continue to hold a “chat and prayer” brunch on the odd occasion at Wetherspoons in Moseley.

There are still challenges ahead but we would love to see more people coming to the games to enjoy watching, praying for and perhaps befriending players, building relationships in this community outreach.

If you would like to be involved in the team in some way during the next season, please contact Christian Muneyi-Cargill, Mike Holt or Roger Lynch.
